What is a photography major called?

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography programs generally focus on practical instruction in the technical and creative aspects of the visual arts. Courses may include photography techniques, studio lighting, color theory, graphic design, digital photography and art criticism.

Photographers

are artists and a specialization in visual arts will prepare you for the journey an artist will have to endure. Visual arts students will develop technical, mental and social skills they can use to improve as photographers.

While specific specializations can benefit your photography, the truth is that nothing will help you achieve it like practicing. If the school you attend doesn't offer any specialization that attracts you, consider creating a specialization that overlaps with photography. As a photographer who specializes in journalism, you're likely to get a job as a photographer, writer, or both (photojournalist) in a newspaper, online news outlet, or magazine. I couldn't quite understand what I wanted to do with my photograph, so I entered the university as an undeclared specialization.

Any title is a starting point, and imagination, creativity, business sense and ambition can take any title a long way. Learn what types of photography equipment are available to students and how they are distributed among photography students. I think you could expand the fine arts option, because since I graduated from art school (photography is an emphasis on an open specialization) I know that there are many more opportunities with a fine art degree than you might imagine at this point in your education. In addition, professional photo shoots and camera equipment at events have become increasingly common, so there are a variety of professional possibilities for photography students.

As a photography student, you'll learn about many different styles of work and you'll need to be able to think critically about each of them and possibly even replicate them. Digital Arts students will learn to apply artistic principles using the latest digital software to produce art. You'll learn about photographic composition, digital photography, color, black and white photography and studio photography. A specialization in business won't necessarily make you a better photographer, however, this field of study will give you a lot of knowledge about how to operate a business that works on its own.

If you love photography but don't want to specialize in it, there are many alternative options that may still match your artistic interests. In addition to being a photographer, communication students can often land great jobs as executive producers, social media directors, and marketing managers.
